Fashion: Top 5: Affordable Highstreet Prom/Grad Ball Dresses

Fashion, Popular Culture & Entertainment

Recently having my own graduation ball, I found that searching for the perfect dress was hard work. So I decided to write about a few of my favourites showing what I thought were affordable and easy to purchase as a high-street buy. I wanted to gather a collection of what could be for the specific occasions that are similar such as prom/college/graduation etc.

Here is my top five:

Screen Shot 2016-05-12 at 20.55.11

1. // Blush Hour Tulle Dress

 Nasty Gal //

// £137

Presented in the most mad blush, this dress can separate as a light pink bodice with a skirt as an attachment. The bodice features a sweetheart neckline and the skirt is made in floor length tulle. Perfect for prom.

Screen Shot 2016-05-12 at 20.55.15

2. // Ariana Grande Cutout Body Maxi Dress

Lipsy //

// £68.00

This evening wear gown is my ultimate favourite, also the one I wore to my graduation. Cutout design with a rushing detail on the waist, team up with a pair of silver high heels and clutch bag for a classic red carpet look.

14854d670dd016c69cdbbd51f4d686bd

3. // Limited Edition Long Dress

Zara //

// £49.99

Zara’s limited edition, plunges from the neckline with a glittered tint to glam up the simple style of a maxi dress. Cut out back with detailed strap-lines.

Screen Shot 2016-05-12 at 20.55.23

4. // Pleated Flutter Sleeve Maxi Dress

ASOS //

// £75.00

This lined body is pleated chiffon on the sleeves with a plunge neckline, open back with strap detail, nude colour is so in for this season. Grab while you can.

Screen Shot 2016-05-12 at 20.55.41

5. // Premium Leaf Embellished Mini Dress Blue

Misguided //

// £95.00

Embellished detailing on this dress is something I’m crushing on at the minute. Nude mesh finish and mini dress for underneath works amazingly well together, also with a discreet zip to the side for a comfortable finish. Wear with nude heels to keep those eyes on the dress.

Hope this helps with ideas if you have a certain occasion cropping up soon! Let me know in the comments what your favourites are this season, or what your favourite is from my top picks.

Its Not Punk: Magazine Edition

Fashion, New Music, Popular Culture & Entertainment, Print

So after all the sweat, blood and tears that have literally gone into this work, I can finally show you. Its Not Punk Magazine Edition is finally here: Link to the magazine hurray!

Most of you know that I was creating a fashion magazine for my dissertation (final) project at university and now that it’s been marked and finalised as a 2.1 I can show you the final product.

This is definitely something I’d like to carry on in my own time, however due to just being a ‘one man band’ it will be very time consuming so I’d only do it if my readers would be interested and willing to see it monthly. (Sorry for not writing blog posts for the past three months, you now know where I’ve been hiding).

Here is the final product below, just for show, if you would like to have a read then please click the link above or the photos for a better view.

I can’t express into words of how much relief it is to have finished the project, but I’ve came to the realisation at the end of my studies, it is for sure something I want to do as a career.

All of the articles are written and edited by myself, as well as the graphic design. The images used within the magazine are from the internet and have been referenced within my project as a bibliography. The photoshoot that is carried in the De Ja Vu section is by myself also.

I couldn’t be more prouder of how it’s turned out, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I have and I would most appreciate if you left your thoughts in the comments box and let me know what you think! Thanks for the support guys.

I’m creating a Fashion Magazine

Fashion, Popular Culture & Entertainment

9d8a53e6f9f379b26d989492a16aca43

For my final year at University I’m creating my very own fashion magazine named after my blog ItsNotPunk and I need YOUR help. If you could take a minute of your day to fill in this survey it would be a massive help https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/PTJHVZM

Creating this will help me to see if I can survive within this competitive industry and as a passion it is a perfect opportunity to see if I can achieve my goals and create something new and unique for myself but to show future employers.

The magazine is focused on targeting 18+ female readers basing parts of my house style on Elle Magazine. I’d like to create articles such as a street style page, beauty insider tips/advice, social network screenshots for an opinionated feature and a main fashion photoshoot along with interviews, book, music and film reviews and finally articles to do with celebrity style. However I would like to create a retro twist within the magazine to make it a unique product within the market to compete with the other successors and this is where I need your help from the survey.

If there is any other feedback you’d like to give or if you’ve had experience beforehand with this sort of work then it would be a great help. The amount of feedback I have had from my other blog posts have been so overwhelming and supportive so thank you for your help over the past year.

Get on yer’ dancing shoes

Fashion, Popular Culture & Entertainment

From ankle boots to T bar style flats, I have become ridiculously addicted to shoes recently, not to jump on the bandwagon a bit too late but I now finally get the hype. Better late than never? I decided to throw together a few pairs that I’m loving this month.

So here is my top five:

Stud Ankle Boots//

// £79.99 Now £39.99

Mango //

Screen Shot 2016-01-15 at 19.37.07

With a bargain like this who can resist? These decorative western styled maroon ankle boots would make first picks with a slouchy jumper along with mom jeans for that casual look.

Taylor Palm Black Leather //

// £45

Clarks //

Screen Shot 2016-01-15 at 19.37.55

This tailored trend is becoming quite easy on the eye recently, a metallic buckle fastening added with a finished touch to the heel, these black leather flats are dainty yet sophisticated with a comfortable fit.

Black Faux Suede Over The Knee Boots //

// £75

River Island //

Screen Shot 2016-01-15 at 19.38.06

If you want a sixties ‘twiggy inspired look’ faux suede is the way to go, over the knee boots are hot right now. Why not take a risk and pair it up with a vibrant swing mini dress.

Tammy Tan Suede Wooden Heel Ankle Boots //

£79 //

// Urban Outfitters

Screen Shot 2016-01-15 at 19.38.20

If knee highs aren’t your thing then maybe these tan suede wooden boots are. Play it down with these mod inspired ankle boots, prepare to look fab in the summer with a causal tee and shorts.

Fashion: Top 5: Faux Fur v Suede

Fashion, Popular Culture & Entertainment

Deadlines have been looming, copious amounts of nights in with caffeine have happened, resulting in me neglecting my poor blog and you readers.

I’ve had a lot on my plate recently, being in my third and final year definitely sucks. So I decided whilst I have the time through my Christmas break I’d show you the most incredible jackets that have hit the highstreet just in time for that perfect gift, go on treat yourself.

Here are my top five Faux Fur v Suede winter warmers:

Leopard Faux Fur Coat //

// Was £89.99 Now £59.99

 If you want to push the limits this winter a leopard print faux fur fabric with inner lining teamed with dreamy black suede ankle boots might just be the trick. Long sleeved with two sided pockets is a deal breaker, and it’s in the sale what more can you ask for?

Reclaimed Vintage Oversized Real Suede Jacket with Belt Detail //

// £165

This gorgeous reclaimed vintage masterpiece is a definite one off, oversized fit with soft touch suede, functional pockets and an asymmetric zip and adjustable pin buckle belt, this jacket would complete the perfect casual day/night look.

Jakke Charlie Wine Coat //

// Was £99 Now £70

A soft faux fur with a hidden button on the front, completed with two front pockets at the hips for a perfect finishing touch. Faux fur just seems to be the winner for me this year and the colour of a red berry wine sums up Christmas in a jacket.

Short Coat //

// £39.99

Screen Shot 2015-12-18 at 14.21.30

H&M

If a simple look is what you want why not try this camel suede short coat, 3/4 length sleeves lined with no buttons or side pockets. 70s vibes all round.

Milky Way Coat By Unreal Fur //

// £245

If you are still stuck in festival mode and want to rock the edgey look, this faux fur panel may be the one for you. Pair up with a fedora and black skinnies.

What have you been loving this month? And will you buying any of these top 5 jackets for christmas? Let me know in the comments box.

FASHION: TOP 5: BACK TO SCHOOL MUST HAVES

Fashion

Hopefully this top 5 fashion ‘must haves’ will help you prep for another fresh start either that be a new city, a new year or a new school, getting back on the education wagon is incredibly important and what’s better than a new wardrobe to start with? Turn heads and make those first impressions right.

I’ve been absolutely loving Topshop’s collection recently and it seems to be getting more fabulous each week, the sixties and seventies fashion ‘inspo’ are my favs and nothing screams smart to me more than a pair of cigarette trousers with brogues or even a stripy funnel neck with a pair of tights and dungarees.

So here’s what my top 5 picks are for that first term:

// Topshop

Inverness Checked Wool Pinafore Dress //

// £185

Screen Shot 2015-09-09 at 19.55.32

‘As if’… Embed a ‘Clueless’ classic Cher look. Tartan will always be an autumnal look and with a square clean, yet sharp silhouette and a hidden zip at the back, you are well on your way.

//Topshop

Suede Western Jacket //

// £135

Screen Shot 2015-09-09 at 19.55.59

The 70’s has made a comeback I couldn’t help but squeeze a bit of suede into my top picks. A classic front style with zipped trims to the sleeves and patch pockets, this would team up perfectly with a cosy black turtle neck and black skinnies.

// Topshop

Daisy Print Cigarette Trousers //

// £39

Screen Shot 2015-09-09 at 19.56.12

Think practical yet chic, these daisy print cigarette trousers are a gem to create that smart look, cut with a flattering tapered leg and an ankle grazer in length, you can’t go wrong. Oh and they’ve got side pockets, what more could a girl want.

// Topshop

PETITE Bright Floral Tunic //

// £32

Screen Shot 2015-09-09 at 19.53.58

Okay, this is my favourite from the list. Who said floral is dead in Autumn? This retro print will definitely make you stand out from the crowd.

// Topshop

Striped Funnel Neck Top //

// £18

Screen Shot 2015-09-09 at 19.56.28

ADDICTED TO: FREE PEOPLE // FESTIVAL FASHION GUIDE

Fashion

Scanning through the same old online fashion shops/boutiques can certainly be a bore and a chore personally when it comes down to searching high and low for the perfect outfit; whether that be for a day out with friends, a night out on the town, a romantic meal for two, holiday or even a festival.

Yet I stumbled across the incredibly beautiful blogger Christina Topacio with her faultless fashion blog: ‘Profresh Style’. Completely falling in love with a design of a low cut maxi dress that she owned, I became intrigued to find out how much this dress is, and to see what the hype is around the online shop ‘Free People’. I can finally say I get the obsession and I’m all around in love with it.

‘Free People’ was founded by Dick Hayne in the 1970’s and opened the store to many within West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and then kicked off into other states as well as the UK. As it says on the website the demand was almost immediate. Keeping a theme throughout their designs with creativity and individuality, these pieces really do shine through femininity, courage and spirit and I honestly can’t believe it’s took me this long to find it.

Profresh Style 1Profresh Style 3Profresh Style 2(Above is Christina Topacio sporting the gorgeous Free People Maxi Dress I previously mentioned above. Unfortunately I cannot find the dress on the site, so if anyone knows where I can get this piece from or have seen it on the site with the price, please do hit the comment button and let me know, thanks!)
